TerraTreks Dolomites Trek to Lagazoui - Day 5
1/19
TerraTreks™ 7 - 9 day treks are challenging, classic hikes, with mountain paths which can be narrow, some with steep segments, but with minimal or no technical stages (short distances with cables or ladders) . All our treks are suitable for experienced hikers who are in good physical condition with good stamina and no fear of heights.
The Dolomites Trek is a 9 day/8 night, van supported trek through the most iconic areas of the Northern Dolomites. This hike, like all of TerraTreks hikes, are skillfully guided by experienced guides with the highest level of certifications. We stay in beautiful lodges (called huts or rifugios in the Dolomites) with private double rooms and private baths. Breakfasts and dinners are included at each hut. The trek is bookended by stays at 4 or 5 star resort style hotels in San Candido and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
The Rosengarten Trek is a 7 day/6 night trek through the Rosengarten region of the Dolomites. The hike starts and ends in St Cyprian in Italy and then loops through the most amazing scenery in the Rosengarten. On this hike there is an option to use attached cables and ladders to climb from Rifugio Vajolet to Passo Santner to enjoy the view over the valley and some Kaiserschmarrn from the Rifugio Passo Santner. This area is known throughout South Tyrol for its Via Ferrata routes. The climb to Passo Santner requires no special skills except a love for adventure, ability to embrace steep terrain, and no fear of heights.
The Alpentraversale Trek is exactly what the name implies...a traverse of the Alps through Germany, Austria, and into Italy for the finale at Tre Cime. This strenuous hike begins at Berchtesgaden in Germany, which is the location of the historical Eagles Nest of WWII. Our first adventure takes us on a small, antique wooden ferry across the Konigsee to the trailhead. The next 7 days and 6 nights are spent winding our way through three countries with breathtaking natural beauty, quaint, full-service mountain huts, and delicious food. I still remember the lunch I had at the Glorerhutte; I'd do the entire hike again just to eat those delicious dumplings at the outdoor dining table looking over the vast landscape that led me to that place.
